What are you going to do?
In your thesis / graduation assignment, you will investigate the possibilities for valorization of one of the side streams from sugarbeet production. The aim is to extract much more value from sugar beet pulp – between 20 and 50 times more- by applying bio-refinery and conversion technologies. This is an immensely interesting project because it will energize value creation and volume sales of the pulp, which are vitally important for the future. The ultimate goal of this  assignment, is to find a new functionality for a side stream of sugarbeet production.

Who are you
You are a (Agri)food technology student, close to graduation, with affinity for or proven experience with valorization of agrifood functional ingredients. You are studying Food technology,  or similar. You are available for an internship, for the duration of 16-20 weeks.
Furthermore we ask:
  • A pro-active, independent attitude and drive;
  • A Hands on mentality: Lab research activities will be 90% of the internship;
  • Knowledge of (or strong interest to learn) analysis and test equipment: (centrifugation, rheology, particles size distribution, …);
  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DoE) is a pre;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and/or Dutch;
  • Knowledge of- and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Where are you going to work?
Cosun R&D is the knowledge and expertise center of Cosun. Cosun R&D provides services to the Cosun business groups and their customers by sharing its know-how and experience in process technology, product development, analysis techniques and quality issues. With this knowledge, our colleagues at Cosun R&D help coordinate and initiate research and development Cosun wide. Additionally, Cosun R&D works together with the business groups to develop new and innovative applications of biomass.
Our Cosun innovation venter facilitates in experimental set ups for process analyses, research laboratories, a pilot plant and our very own bakery, for testing new concepts. You can count on a challenging assignment and personal attention and guidance.

During your internship you will be located at our Cosun innovation center in Dinteloord.
